PTSD & Trauma

Trauma can keep the nervous system stuck in survival mode. Healing is possible.

About PTSD & Trauma

Treatment for PTSD & Trauma

Trauma can change how the nervous system responds to the world. For many people, it does not feel like a memory from the past, but something that continues to intrude on the present through anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbing, or sudden waves of distress.

Post-traumatic stress can develop after a single overwhelming event or after repeated or prolonged experiences. Trauma does not have to look dramatic to have a lasting impact. What matters is how the mind and body responded, and how those responses continue.

At Reyou, we work with individuals living with trauma and PTSD who are seeking thoughtful, medically guided care in an environment that prioritizes safety and respect.

Our approach

How We Approach PTSD & Trauma at Reyou

Trauma-informed care means recognizing that the nervous system may still be operating in survival mode. It means moving slowly, explaining what to expect, and avoiding approaches that overwhelm or re-traumatize.

At Reyou, trauma-informed care is not a label. It is how we practice. Our team is trained to work with trauma-related symptoms, and we have a trauma therapist on staff who helps guide preparation, integration, and ongoing support when appropriate.

Every aspect of care is designed to emphasize choice, predictability, and emotional safety.

Treatment recommendations are individualized. We take into account symptom severity, treatment history, medical considerations, and personal goals when helping patients explore their options.

Understanding

How Trauma Affects the Brain & Nervous System

Trauma can lock the brain into patterns of hyperarousal, threat detection, and emotional reactivity. Memories may feel fragmented or intrusive, and the body may react as if danger is still present, even when it is not.

These patterns are not conscious decisions. They are protective responses that once helped the nervous system survive, but may now limit a person’s ability to feel calm, connected, or at ease.

Is This the Right Approach for Me?

This approach may be a good fit if:

  • Traditional approaches haven’t fully resolved your symptoms
  • You continue to experience hypervigilance, numbness, or intrusive memories
  • Traditional approaches haven’t fully resolved your symptoms
  • You continue to experience hypervigilance, numbness, or intrusive memories

When Depression Is Also Present

Many individuals with PTSD or trauma also experience depression or have a history of antidepressant treatment. In those cases, additional options such as Spravato® may be discussed during evaluation when clinically appropriate.

Treatment recommendations are always guided by clinical appropriateness, not diagnosis labels alone.

Many people with trauma hesitate on new treatments. They worry about re-traumatization, if their experience “counts” as PTSD, or if they've waited too long for treatment.

Our approach is designed to move at your pace. You won’t be asked to relive traumatic experiences. The focus is on creating conditions where the nervous system can begin to shift out of survival mode in a safe environment.

How we treat

Ketamine Therapy for PTSD & Trauma

Clear vial of ketamine on an orange background.

Ketamine can help disrupt rigid neural patterns tied to fear, hypervigilance, and emotional shutdown. By quieting threat responses, it fosters a flexible state for new perspectives and emotional processing.

At Reyou, IV ketamine is administered in-clinic under medical supervision as part of a structured treatment plan. Preparation and integration are emphasized.

Ketamine therapy is increasingly explored for individuals with PTSD and trauma-related symptoms, particularly when traditional approaches have not provided sufficient relief.

Some patients notice meaningful shifts relatively quickly, though experiences vary.

What you can do

Help Someone You Love

You can see it — the light behind their eyes has dimmed. What was supposed to help has not. Someone you care about is struggling, and you want to ease their burden. When people close to us suffer, we suffer too.

Think of it like a lamp covered in layers of dust. The more life piles on — trauma, depression, anxiety — the dimmer the light becomes. But the lamp itself has not changed. The light is still there, just as bright as it ever was. Sometimes it just needs the right care to help it shine again.

Reyou’s treatments can help the people you care about reconnect with that light — and in doing so, make all of your lives a little brighter.

What patients say

"For years, PTSD made it nearly impossible to find peace, especially at night. Sleep was a battle lost more often than not. After just three treatments, the change is outstanding. Where sleepless nights once ruled, I am now getting 6 to 7 hours of peaceful rest. The mind feels clearer than it has in years, and the heavy fog of PTSD is finally lifting."

Choosing a Path Forward

Healing from trauma is not about forcing change. It is about creating the conditions where the nervous system no longer needs to stay on guard.

A consultation at Reyou is a conversation, not a commitment. We take time to understand your experiences, answer questions honestly, and help you determine whether ketamine or another approach may be appropriate.
